Cylinder liner (two-stroke main engine)

Replaceable cast-iron liner forming the cylindrical wall of the combustion chamber in a two-stroke low-speed engine. It is honed to a precise finish to retain the piston rings and is water-jacketed for cooling. Liner wear (measured by templug and bore-gauge) sets the top-overhaul and decarbonisation schedule.
