Role overview
The ETO is a key member of the engineering team on a Bulk carrier, responsible for maintaining and operating electrical and electronic systems. This includes navigation, communication, and cargo handling equipment. The ETO plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The ETO's day-to-day duties at sea include performing routine maintenance and repairs on electrical and electronic equipment, troubleshooting faults, and testing systems to ensure they are functioning correctly. The ETO also assists with cargo operations, including the use of cargo handling equipment. Additionally, the ETO is responsible for maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate, such as an ETO CoC.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as an ETO on a merchant vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems, including navigation and communication equipment.
- Must be proficient in troubleshooting and repairing faults in electrical and electronic systems.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
