Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior officer responsible for the maintenance and operation of the engine department on a bulk carrier. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer must ensure the vessel's engines and related systems are functioning efficiently and safely.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance, troubleshooting engine problems, and managing fuel consumption. They must also ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, such as those related to pollution prevention and waste management. Additionally, the Chief Engineer is responsible for training and supervising junior engineers and engine room crew members.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel type
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- A valid STCW certificate, including training in crisis management and human behavior
