Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Bitumen tanker, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other crew members to achieve this goal.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include managing the engine room team, performing routine maintenance and repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for fuel management, budgeting, and cost control. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's STCW/CoC certificate is required for this role.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a tanker vessel is necessary.
- A strong understanding of engine room operations, maintenance, and repair is essential.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills are required to manage the engine room team.
- A high level of physical fitness is necessary to work in a demanding maritime environment.
