Role overview
The 2nd Officer is a key member of the deck team on a Bulk carrier, responsible for navigating the vessel and ensuring the safety of the crew and cargo. This role requires strong navigation and communication skills. The 2nd Officer will work closely with the Master and other deck officers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Officer's day-to-day duties will include navigating the vessel, updating charts and publications, and conducting safety drills and training exercises. The 2nd Officer will also be responsible for monitoring the vessel's cargo and ballast operations, and for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures. The 2nd Officer will work a varied schedule, including night watches and weekend work.

What we look for
- Holder of a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) certificate
- At least 12 months of experience as a deck officer on a merchant vessel
- Good knowledge of navigation and cargo operations
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with others
- Physical fitness to work at sea and pass a medical examination
