Huisman to Equip Capital Offshore’s New PSVs with Advanced Knuckle Boom Cranes

Crane specialist Huisman has signed a contract with Greek shipowner Capital Offshore to deliver four state-of-the-art Knuckle Boom Cranes. These cranes are set to be installed on new MMC-designed platform supply vessels (PSVs) currently under construction at the Fujian Mawei shipyard in China. The vessels are intended for operations in the Brazilian offshore market.

Each crane boasts a lifting capacity of 100 metric tons and is engineered to operate at depths of up to 3,000 meters. They are equipped with Huisman’s proprietary Active Heave Compensation (AHC) system, which integrates with the vessel’s DC grid, allowing efficient interaction with the onboard electrical energy storage system. This integration is designed to reduce the net energy consumption during offshore lifting operations.

David Roodenburg, CEO of Huisman, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our cranes are engineered to deliver exceptional performance and reliability in the most demanding offshore environments, and we look forward to supporting Capital Offshore in their operations. We see this as the start of a strong and lasting partnership, built on a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.”

This contract underscores Huisman’s commitment to providing cutting-edge lifting solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the offshore industry.
