Pakistan Navy Warship Docks in Bangladesh for First Time Since 1971

A milestone in bilateral naval diplomacy was achieved on 8 November 2025 when the PNS Saif, a PNS Saif-class (F-22P Zulfiquar-class) missile frigate of the Pakistan Navy, berthed at Chattogram Port in Bangladesh for a four-day goodwill visit—the first time a Pakistani warship has visited Bangladesh since the 1971 Liberation War.
The ship was received by the Bangladesh Navy’s BNS Shadhinota, with formal welcomes by senior officials of both navies and Pakistan’s embassy in Dhaka.

The visit coincides with the presence of Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf in Bangladesh, who engaged in high-level talks emphasising enhanced naval cooperation, joint training programmes, and increased defence diplomacy between the two nations.

Built in China and commissioned in 2010, the PNS Saif is based at Karachi and is equipped for maritime security operations in littoral and blue-water environments.
