Engineer Arrested for Leaking Sensitive Indian Naval Data to Pakistani Operatives

In a significant breach of national security, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested 27-year-old mechanical engineer Ravindra Muralidhar Verma from Thane for allegedly leaking classified information about Indian Navy warships and submarines to suspected Pakistani intelligence operatives. Verma, employed by Krasni Defence Technology Pvt. Ltd., a firm engaged in ship repair contracts for critical defense installations, had access to sensitive naval facilities, including the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai .

According to the ATS, Verma was “honey-trapped” online by individuals posing as women, who lured him into sharing confidential data. He transmitted information through sketches, diagrams, and audio notes, detailing operational specifics of 14 naval vessels. The Indian Navy has verified that details for at least five of these ships were accurate and classified .

Investigations revealed that Verma received payments from multiple bank accounts in India and abroad in exchange for the leaked information. He had been in contact with the Pakistani agents since November 2024, after accepting friend requests on Facebook from profiles named “Payal Sharma” and “Ispreet,” which were later identified as fake accounts operated by foreign intelligence operatives
