China Launches World’s First AI-Powered Underwater Computing Cluster

China has unveiled a groundbreaking underwater intelligent computing cluster off the coast of Hainan province, marking a significant advancement in sustainable high-performance computing. This facility, the first of its kind globally, integrates over 400 high-performance servers within a submerged module, establishing a powerful data processing hub beneath the sea.

The cluster’s computing capacity is equivalent to that of 30,000 high-end gaming PCs operating simultaneously, enabling it to perform in one second what would take a standard computer a year. This immense processing power supports artificial intelligence applications, such as DeepSeek’s AI assistant, which can handle approximately 7,000 intelligent interactions per second.
