Mitsubishi to build vessels for Indonesian Maritime Agency

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding receives order from Indonesian Maritime Safety Agency to build offshore patrol vessels

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Corporation, a member of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, has signed a contract with Indonesian Maritime Safety Agency (BAKAMLA) to build an offshore trade patrol vessel (OPV). The vessel will be built at MHI’s Shimonoseki Shipyard in Yamaguchi Prefecture and is scheduled to be completed and delivered in March 2028.

The project is based on a grant agreement signed in March 2024 between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to enhance maritime security capabilities. The provision of offshore patrol vessels through this agreement will enhance Indonesian Maritime Safety Agency’s ability to conduct maritime rescue and law enforcement operations quickly and appropriately.

In the future, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding will continue to build domestic and foreign ships with excellent fuel efficiency and environmental performance to contribute to social and international security. In close cooperation with customers, the company will seek to find continuous solutions to various navigation problems.
